Alberta: Wild Rose Country

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. To apply for the nomination, candidates are required to score 67 out of 100. Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination get 600 CRS points. The selection points score is 67 out of 100. The easy and user-friendly application procedure and tax benefits have made Alberta a popular province for immigration.

In August 2021, Alberta invited 396 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination, which was the biggest draw of the year.

The AINP has several streams that cater to different types of immigrants. These include the Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS), the Self-Employed Farmer Stream, and the International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream. The AOS stream is designed for foreign workers who are already working in Alberta and have a valid work permit. The Self-Employed Farmer Stream is designed for experienced farmers who want to buy or start a farm in Alberta. Finally, the International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream is designed for international graduates who have completed their studies in Canada and want to start a business in Alberta.

British Columbia

British Columbia:The Best Place on Earth

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is an economic immigration program administered by the Government of British Columbia’s Immigration Programs Branch1. The program enables the province to select and nominate foreign workers, international students and entrepreneurs to help meet B.C.’s labour market needs, support government priorities, and help grow B.C.’s economy.

 

Since its inception in 2001, more than 44,000 workers and entrepreneurs have been attracted to the province through the BC PNP. In 2017 alone, BC PNP nominated 69 entrepreneurs who had invested in new or existing B.C. businesses and demonstrated an active management role.

 

The BC PNP has different categories for experienced entrepreneurs wanting to start a business in B.C. and become permanent residents. These categories include Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot, Entrepreneur Immigration Base Category, Strategic Projects Category and Regional Pilot Project.

Manitoba

Manitoba: Friendly Manitoba

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is an economic immigration program administered by the Government of Manitoba’s Immigration Programs Branch. According to a recent survey, 85% of Manitoba nominees were working three months after arrival, 76% were homeowners within five years and 95% of families settled permanently in the community.

 

More than 185,000 MPNP nominees and their families have immigrated to Manitoba from all over the world since the program began in 1998. The MPNP receives an allocation of nominations each year from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). For 2022, Manitoba was allocated 5,075 base nominations and 1,250 enhanced nominations.

New Brunswick

New Brunswick: Be… In This Place

The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) is an economic immigration program administered by the Government of New Brunswick. The program aims to boost the population growth of the province as well as to increase its financial development by ensuring the availability of skilled labor.

 

To be eligible to apply for a New Brunswick PNP Program, candidates should score a minimum of 67 points and the points will be calculated based on factors such as age, work experience, employment details, language proficiency, etc. The NBPNP targets qualified candidates who meet specific economic and labor market needs in the province. Under the NBPNP, candidates can qualify through one of five categories: New Brunswick Express Entry Stream.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) is an economic immigration program administered by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. The NLPNP enables the province to nominate candidates for Newfoundland immigration that` have the precise skills and experience needed in the local economy.

The Priority Skills Newfoundland and Labrador is a new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) for highly educated, highly skilled newcomers with specialized experience in areas where demand has outpaced local training and recruitment, such as technology and ocean sciences occupations. The program was created to help address local labor shortages

Under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), you may qualify under one of three streams. The three Newfoundland and Labrador PNP streams for Canada Immigration are:

Northwest Territories

Northwest Territories: Spectacular NWT

The Northwest Territories Provincial Nominee Program (NTNP) is a program that encompasses different pathways for Northwest Territories immigration. The NTNP provides promising opportunities to skilled foreign workers to settle in the territory and become permanent residents of Canada1.

The NTNP has two streams for skilled workers:

  1. The Employer-Driven Stream
  2. The Critical Impact Worker Stream

The Employer-Driven Stream is designed for employers who are unable to find Canadian citizens or permanent residents to fill job vacancies. The Critical Impact Worker Stream is designed for semi-skilled workers who have been working in the Northwest Territories for at least six months.

 PNPs have been successful in distributing a larger proportion of economic immigrants outside Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia compared to other economic immigration programs.

Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia: Canada’s Ocean Playground

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is a program that allows prospective immigrants who have the skills and experience targeted by Nova Scotia to be nominated to immigrate.

 According to Canada.ca, PNPs have been successful in distributing a larger proportion of economic immigrants outside Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia compared to other economic immigration programs.

 This year, the province can approve a total of 5,430 applicants, up from 3,857 in 2021, to settle in Nova Scotia with their families. This includes an increase of 400 nomination spaces in the Provincial Nominee Program.

There are several types of PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) in Nova Scotia. Here are some of them:

  1. Skilled workers with a full-time permanent job offer
  2. International graduates
  3. Entrepreneurs
  4. International students
Nunavut

Nunavut: Our Land, Our Strength

Nunavut, with the meaning "our land" in Inuktitut, the Inuit language, is Country's largest territory, covering one-fifth of Canada's geographical mass. Nunavut was a part of the Northwest Territories until 1999, when it became an independent Canadian territory.


Nunavut has only 36,500 population overall, hence there aren't many immigrants there each year. With the mining industry beginning to take off though, Nunavut is eager to attract qualified people who can contribute to the expansion of its economy. To make up for the greater cost of living in Nunavut, several employers there offer supplementary supplements.

Ontario

Ontario: Yours to Discover

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is designed to select foreign nationals interested in Ontario immigration the opportunity to apply for Canadian permanent residence through an expedited process1. The program nominates candidates based on their credential factors such as age, education, language proficiency, and adaptability. The OINP recognizes and nominates people for permanent residence who have the skills and experience the Ontario economy needs.

 The program has been successful in distributing a larger proportion of economic immigrants outside Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia compared to other economic immigration programs. The majority of PN s (82%) who became permanent residents between 2000 and 2008 and who filed an income tax return in 2008 were residing in their province of nomination.

 In 2021, OINP was able to add 250 additional nominations primarily for candidates with work experience in occupational skill type C. These candidates were nominated through Ontario’s National Occupational Classification-Level C (NOC C) Pilot

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) uses an expression of interest system to manage its applications for the following streams:

  1. Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream
  2. Employer Job Offer: International Student stream
  3. Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills stream
  4. Masters Graduate stream
  5. PhD Graduate stream
  6. Entrepreneur stream
Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island: The Gentle Island

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) is one of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). The PEI PNP has three streams which are 

  1. Skilled Workers in PEI
  2. International Graduates and 
  3. Business Impact Category.

The PEI PNP requires a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark score of 5 bands in each module. The nominated applicants can get bonus 600 points in the Express Entry pool in addition to their current CRS score.

Reasons for the success of PNP immigrants include: PNP immigrants are nominated based on meeting the local labour market needs of Canada’s provinces and territories. They have high levels of human capital including strong language skills, education, work experience, and Canadian connections.

According to a report by Canada.ca, PNP has been successful in distributing a larger proportion of economic immigrants outside Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia compared to other economic immigration programs. The majority of Provincial Nominees (PN s) = 82% who became permanent residents between 2000 and 2008 and who filed an income tax return in 2008 were residing in their province of nomination.

Quebec

Quebec: Je me souviens (I remember)

Quebec has its own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) called Quebec Skilled Worker Program. The program is for workers who have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of Quebec. 

To apply for Quebec Skilled Worker Program, you’ll have to apply in two stages. You first apply to the Government of Quebec for your Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificat de sélection du Québec [CSQ]). This certificate indicates that the province accepts you as an immigrant. The province then assesses you according to its rule book. If you successfully get a CSQ, you must apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residency.

The eligibility criteria for Quebec-selected skilled worker is that you hold a Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificat de sélection du Québec) from the Government of Quebec and submit a complete permanent residence application, including police certificates.

The process to become a Quebec Selected Skilled Worker will take approximately 17 months.

Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan: Land of Living Skies

Through the SINP, the Province of Saskatchewan invites residency applications from non-Canadians who want to make Saskatchewan their home; Nominates successful applicants to the federal government for permanent residency in Canada.

Candidates have to score a minimum of 60 points out of 100 on the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) point assessment grid. Must have a minimum of one year of work experience in the past ten years in the intended occupation. For language proficiency, minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 is required.

The Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Program provides an alternate and quicker means of entry into Canada. Through the Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Program, the provincial government fast tracks PNP applications to the Canadian government for permanent resident status, based on criteria established by the province.

Yukon

Yukon Territory: Larger Than Life

The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) has been in operation since 2002. Yukon uses the YNP to attract more immigrants to the province to address the territory’s labour market needs1. The YNP targets skilled workers and businesspersons who have the work experience and required education to succeed in the Yukon territory.

 

The stream allows the province to nominate persons who are already in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) Express Entry pool and who have the necessary education, skilled work experience, language ability, and other factors to help them settle and integrate successfully into Yukon’s labour market and communities.
